International pen pals learn about each other through letters
When you meet a person over the Web, wanting to be international pen pals with him, writing letters to each other is sometimes the only means of interaction. Believe me, you cannot overestimate the importance of those letters. Let's contemplate for a second, how powerful a simple word can be - a kind, tender, affectionate, serious, witty, arousing word, making you think and feel... By the way, international letter writing creates a very interesting situation - we have to express and describe everything we do, think, feel, see and experience only through written words. And your partner creates an image of you through what you write, how you write it, when and why. Now let's take a look at some myths concerning letter-writing, very widespread among people who in fact simply do not enjoy the very process.
Myth #1.
'You cannot get to know a person through a pen pal relationship. You have to meet at once to decide whether you really suit each other."
Dear ladies, I tell you with all the responsibility that not only you can get to know a person really well through an international pen pals relationship, but also you can fall in love with him, or at least get strongly attached to him.
Ask questions, inquire about his opinion on everything (movies, newspapers, events, books etc.), share your thoughts with him so that he would do the same to you. Tell him more about yourself so that he feels like opening up and confiding in you. Always remember to thank him for answers to your questions and for the stories he tells you. Believe me, in a short while you will notice how you grow to understand each other more and more, how you guess each other's state of mind, how you will observe what is important for both of you, where your opinions coincide, and where they differ. You would feel how you become closer and closer with each letter, how you will want to write more and more. Although the thing you would most look forward to is seeing each other!
Myth #2.
"Why is he not writing to me? I was the last to write a letter, it's his turn now!"
It is not particularly wise to say this. First of all, you never know what might have happened to him. Everything is possible in this world - too much work to do, an unexpected business trip, a football match, a visit to a dentist, a necessity to fill in the income statement, or even a sudden illness... And you are being stubborn and silent, waiting for him to reply. You are silent when he most needs your support, your kind words, your letter. Just imagine how happy he is going to feel when in such a moment he discovers your letter - warm, tender, understanding.
On the other hand, there is no need to wait until something happens to him to arrive to the conclusion that it is better to write as often as possible. I used to write (and still write) two letters a day - one in the morning, one in the evening. You man has to think about you, beginning and ending his day with reading your letter. Write every day! Show your pen pal that you are thinking about him, that you value your relationship, that you do not want to let a day pass without a message from you, even if it is a three-line note.
