"They drink less"
I'm laughing out loud. It is an ancient, but a very stable prejudice. In fact, foreigners drink as much as Russians, they just don't do it in public. In many countries, the law forbids drinking of alcohol in the street, on the beach and other public places. In other words, beer should be consumed at home in front of the TV, and vodka - in a restaurant, with a snow-white napkin on your knees. Of course, with these restrictions you cannot meet a person who is lying under the bench after all he had drunk. Everyone gradually learns to drink and fall asleep at home sweet home, so that no one would see them.
A Russian macho may be so impressed with his companion on the first date, that their later communication would only take place in the presence of a patrol investigator. Yet the girl could be sure that she knows all the bad things about him, now all is left is finding out the good ones, which could be done through prison correspondence. However, if her foreign suitor drinks, she could only find it out after marriage, when he finally gets his salary. For many it is a real shock.
"They look better"
Civilized foreigners are crazy about healthy lifestyle and healthy looks. They are always shaved, pink-cheeked, eating vitamins, non-smoking, jogging in their park every morning, drinking coffee without caffeine and going to the dentist every six months. Their hairstyles are neat, the nails - clean even if he is motor mechanic and hand cream is used by men as well as women. They look like a million bucks.
Americans are not even used to going to work in the same clothes for two days in a row - it can harm your image. And what about Russian men in shabby jeans and the famous Turkish sweaters from the nearest market? When they begin to earn more, the gray Turkish sweater becomes a black Italian one, but the army-style haircut stays the same.
A foreigner with the same living standard would look much better, but he would demand the same from you. Of course, a Russian bride would never go out badly dressed. But the Russian habit to wear old clothes at home could drive your foreign fiancé crazy. Not everyone could explain the Russian bride that she should dress even better for her husband than for strangers at her workplace.
"Their wives sit home and do not go to work"
This is not always true, but more often than in Russia. It is just that I cannot understand what's so good about it. According to statistics, after a year of sitting at home, surrounded by neighbors that despise immigrants and do not go to visit you, before the TV which is saying something in a foreign language, with no friends and entertainment, tired of cleaning and shopping, a Russian bride abroad begins to drink, tries drugs or even worse - gets addicted to charity, which is very fashionable. Charity, by the way, is also a job - but you do not get any money for it, it is you who is paying the money.
Then they find a Russian friend who is an alcoholic loser (because all the others work all day so they have no time to maintain a friendship), begin to spend evenings together with a bottle of vodka, complaining at the life that went all wrong. It all boils down to problems with the husband and finally - divorce. It is one thing to be idle at home, with your mother and many girlfriends, and quite another - to do it abroad.
As you see, we have looked at the pros and contras of a foreign affair. It is your decision, to make it or not. Of course, your happiness could be waiting for you everywhere: in the jungle of Brazil, in the Baltic swamps. The main thing is to know for sure what you really want, and to know beforehand all the drawbacks of this brilliant scenario.
